1 c. Nabisco 100% Bran or Kellogg’s Bran Buds
½ c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 c. buttermilk
2½ c. flour, sifted
2 t. soda
½ t salt
2 c. Kellogg’s All bran
So here is my adapted recipe, it could have been a failure but luckily it turned out great.
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 eggs
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1-2 T. brown sugar
1 c. milk, with 1 t. cider vinegar added
1 t. soda
1 c. flour
1 c. corn meal
Combine all ingredients and bake in a greased 9 x 9 x 2 baking pan at 350 for 35 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Serve warm with butter and maple syrup or honey (alas I didn't have honey in my cupboard either!)

While mixing the dough she said she thought it would be easier to just mix it with her hands and so she did.
Just after we cleaned up the kitchen to get ready for the shower we decided that we would make the orange rolls and we got flour everywhere! But it was fun doing it together.
